I'm sure everyone has seen the Jane Seymour Natural Advantage informercial, promoted by Guthy-Renker (Palm Desert, CA). The product advertises that it uses patented "MicroSponge technology" to deliever a high concentration of Rentinol to your skin. And of course, stunning, wrinkle-free, 50-something, Jane Seymour is vowing the integrity of the product.
I picked up the phone, gave them my credit card number, and several days later, the Fedex box was in my mail. Now does Jane Seymour’s Natural Advantage really work?
First and foremost, I am disappointed in the amount of product delivered. The supplier claimed to have sent a 60-day supply kit, but it only lasted a little over one month. The Daily Cleansing Gel was only 2 fl oz (50mL), while most over the counter face cleansing products come in 6 fl oz. True to its marketing, the cleanser is gentle. Perhaps too gentle. My face didn't get that clean feeling like I got from my previous cleanser (Clearasil). But if you have sensitive skin, this product might work for you. On a good note, the cleanser was great at removing eye makeup. Also, unlike other facial cleansers I have used in the past to remove mascara, I experienced no irrration with this product.
The All Day Moisture with SPF 15 comes in a small 1 fl oz (30mL) tube and was everything but "all day." My previous daily moisturizer provided more than SPF 15. Also, this product requires the use of sunscreen. On the back of the tube is a sun alert message which reads: "because this product may make your skin more sensitive to the sun, be certain you have adequate sunscreen protection while using this product and for a week after you discontinue use."
Then comes their TINY 0.5 fl oz (15 mL) tube of Nighttime Renewal Complex with Retinol (Vitamin A) and "Microsponge" technology. During my initial use of the night cream, I felt a slight "tingling" sensation post application. Beware, do not apply product over damaged skin. I made the mistake of applying the product over a recently-popped pimple and experienced quite a sting.
Perhaps the amount of the product doesn't matter just as long as it works, right?
Does Jane Seymour’s Natural Advantage really work? The Results
I personally did not observe any significant changes. The slight wrinkles on my forehead are still staring back at me and the crows feet still cling to the sides of my eyes. My skin appearance overall is the same. Again, no significant improvement. However, these results may differ from person to person. I take care of my skin with daily sunblock and I didn't play out in the sun much as a child. So, for starters, I didn't have many wrinkles or skin damage to start with. Perhaps someone with more pronounced skin conditions may show better results from the Natural Advantage skincare system than what I observed.
Does Jane Seymour’s Natural Advantage really work? My review - Save your money for the recommendations mentioned below. But I am still a Jane Seymour fan at heart!

Updates:
Jane Seymour's Natural Advantage guaranteed a 60 day trial. When I called in for my refund, the lady on the phone was not pleased. She wanted to know why I was returning the product and I told her "because it didn't work." She started recommending other products but I declined. She told me to mail the product back and they would refund my money (minus the shipping and handling charges) within 4-5 weeks.
Also, when I checked my bank account several weeks after the purchase, I was charged an extra ~$98. When I called the company, they said that I was signed up automatically for their club membership. This means they will ship out another set of their products every 2-3 months and automatically deduct from your bank account. I don't know about you, but I do not like any company taking money out of my bank unless I authorized it. I mailed back the new shipment of products and am still waiting for my refund. So buyers beware! There's no "advantage" with this product.
After doing a little research of my own, I've learned that the reviews for Jane Seymour's Natural Advantage are all over the place. Take for example:
- Really wanted this product to work for me but am very disapointed, my face is swollen, red and irritated. Going to return the product. I have never had this kind of reaction to any foundation product. Found it did not cover flaws, by end of day it seemed to just disappear. -Teresa of Tennessee, USA
- Ive bought the product because I wanted to get rid of my age spots and redness on my face. I was all excited as Ive hoped to start glowing as all ladies said on the site. Ive got the products very fast. Everything looked so nice and neat. Unfortunately my skin reacted very bad. Just in couple days my face was covered with red itchy spots. Was really very bad... Ive called to the company and they cancelled my membership without any problem. Ive sent the product to them using certified mail and got a full refund (less s&h) just in 5 days. Still very upset it didnt work for me but people in the company were so polite and understanding even gave me some advices....Nora of Texas, USA
- I have always had problems finding a product that could address all of the problems I have with my skin. I am 25, but being a redhead and growing up on the beach has done a lot of damage, as well as having extremely sensitive skin. My skin was red for about 2 weeks, but after that it was like my freckles and sun damage disappeared! It also has controlled my breakouts, and it is so simple and easy routine. I have recommended to all of my friends, sisters, and mother and they have all had amazing results. I will never stop using this product! -Lyndsey of Utah, USA
As true to its advertising, "results vary." But as for me, Natural Advantage was no advantage.
Recommendation:
After the disappointing experience with Jane Seymour's Natural Advantage, my mother suggested I try Athena 7 Minute Lift (no, it is not a typo, the product works in SEVEN minutes). She swears by their "face lift in a jar". What do you know, sometimes mothers do know best. I cannot express the level of satisfication I experienced with this product. It is amazing to watch the transformation in the mirror. Trust me ladies, you'll thank me for it. 100% recommendation! The great thing about the Athena product is that you can actually see the results. Learn more about Athena 7 Minute Lift by clicking here.
New Product Recommendation:
I just found this new anti-wrinkle product called DermaLastyl-β (Elastatropin). It is a quick-absorbing topical formulation originally designed to help heal wounds and regenerate tissue of wounded soldiers. It is now being marketed to help women erase their wrinkles! It includes an absolutely unique formulation to enhance elastin and collagen production. DermaLastyl-β contains ingredients that prevent the onset of new wrinkles, and ingredients that reduce the appearance of existing wrinkles. Studies show a reduction in the appearance of existing wrinkles in as little as one month, while the prevention of new wrinkles requires the continued use of DermaLastyl-β over several months. You can learn more about DermaLastyl-β at their website . It has all the info: list of ingredients, scientific study data, FAQ's, and actual news videos/reports about their products. Looks like the next big thing in the wrinkle war! Click here for more info.
Not everyone is born with beautiful skin. And not everyone who's born with beautiful skin can keep it. Harsh ultraviolet light, oxidizing free radicals and the aging process all cause skin discoloration and fading. But now there appears to be a way for your skin to look its best. Maybe better than you ever imagined!
